Unity Choir's first rehearsals: As this is probably the first time the members the choir have ever sang with an orchestra, I decided to ease them in gently. I scheduled rehearsal time for the 'choir only'. The rehearsals were to take place somewhere familiar. They were done either at a church building from where some of the members attended or at my own home. I found choosing a familiar and comfortable setting helped the choir to relax a lot more, giving them the opportunity to bond and focus on the music set before them, with opposed to putting them in front of a 60 strong orchestra which would cause much distraction and probably find too overwhelming. I eased them in by letting them listen to a recording which I had done on the good old Sibelius software, giving them an idea and familiarity of what the orchestra will be playing.
